Emma Jean Nuedorff, 87, St. Joseph, Missouri died Friday, January 11, 2013 at a local healthcare facility.
She was born May 28, 1925 in St. Joseph, living most of her life in this city.
Mrs. Neudorff was a homemaker, however, had worked at various office positions during her lifetime.
She was a fifty year member of First Christian Church, where she served many terms as an elder, in the choir for over twenty years, worked in the church office as a volunteer for twenty years, was the recipient of the First Christian Award and the award for Evangelism, was an active member of the Fortnightly Music Club and a member of The Questers, Joseph Robidoux Chapter.
Mrs. Neudorff was very active with her music ability, singing for the U.S.O. during World War II, doing solo work in every city in which she had lived. She also performed the lead in the opera "The Old Maid and The Thief" here in St. Joseph, a Bach Solo Cantata in Conception Abbey, had won a contest among young women in Missouri, Iowa and Illinois to perform as guest soloist with the All City Mens Glee Club of Qunicy, Illinois. This group was patterned after the Fred Waring Glee Club.
She was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband, Warren James Neudorff. They were married on March 27, 1948 in St Joseph; parents, Eldridge (Curley) and Tresa (Stewart) Simon; two brothers, Bob Simon and Billy Simon; and sister, Ruth Langdon.
Survivors: brother, Raymond Simon (Shirley); many loving nieces and nephews, and a host of good friends.
Services: 1:00 P.M. Monday, First Christian Church. Interment Mount Auburn Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 3:00 P.M. Sunday. In lieu of flowers please send memorial gifts to the First Christian Church or Asera Care.
