(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Missouri Western defensive end David Bass tore through MIAA offensive lines picking up a Griffon record 40.5 sacks throughout his career in St. Joseph.

Now the St. Louis native will get to showcase that talent among the best football players in the nation.

Bass will participate in the NFL Combine which takes place from February 20-26 in Indianapolis.

He earned the invitation to the camp starting 50 consecutive games for Western, setting the school sack record, and racking up 56 tackles-for-loss through four seasons.

NFL teams are looking at Bass as a defensive end, his position throughout his career for the Griffons, and linebacker.

His style of play is being compared to former Missouri Tiger, now San Francisco 49er, defensive end Aldon Smith.

Smith ran a 4.74 40-yard dash at the 2011 combine, the same time that Bass has recorded during workouts.
