William "Bill" Burris Russell, 57, Elwood, KS

He was born February 14, 1955 in St. Joseph, MO the seventh son of Josephine (Holzhauser) and Norman Russell. He attended Faucett high school, and married his love, Sharon Burgess on March 30, 1973 in St. Joseph, she survives of the home, and to this union gave them 2 sons, William B, deceased and Jeremy Russell of Southern Missouri; two daughters Kelli Garton and husband Travis of St. Joseph, and Rebecca Russell of the home, and his beloved granddaughter Taylor Garton of St. Joseph.
He served in the Marines and was an expert sharp shooter. He worked at Sea Jay Boat Co of St. Joseph. for several years, & Russell Construction in Conroe, TX. He enjoyed cooking, animals, gardening, working with his hands and helping family and friends, he loved to mushroom hunt, fish and deer hunting. His hearty laugh and sense of humor will be sadly missed by many.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, William B. Russell II and two brothers, Mike and Jimmy Russell. Bill also leaves behind, a step-grandson Travis Garton Jr., six brothers, Don Russell of Amazonia, MO, Ray (Cheryl) Russell of Texas, John (Irma) Russell of Texas, Sherrill (Penny) Russell of Elwood, KS, Tim (Vicki) Russell of Faucett, MO and Joseph Russell of Wathena, KS, three sisters, Linda (Dave) Clark of Bella Vista, AR, Peggy Bryson of Las Vegas, NV and Sally (Bill) Hubbard of California, several nieces & nephews and especially his niece, Beth Russell of Elwood, KS and his nephew, Jay Russell of Elwood, KS.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 am, on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Rupp Funeral Home. Rev. Albert Shirley officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Bellemont Cemetery, Wathena, KS. Memorials are requested to the William "Bill" Russell Memorial Fund.
