Mary was born May 23, 1923 in Holt County Missouri to Blair and Estie Mae (Hester) Thomas. She was the middle child of 3 daughters.
When Mary turned six they were living southeast of Craig, Missouri where she started the first grade at "Wildrose" country school. In March of the following year they moved to Forest City, Missouri where she completed the first four grades and during her fifth grade they moved to Fortescue, Missouri. Later on they moved to Mound City where she graduated from Mound City High School in 1942.
Mary married Jay Emerson Andler May 24, 1942. They resided in the Holt County rural area several years before moving to Mound City raising a family of seven children.
Mary started her nurses' aid career working at the Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, Missouri. Three years later she joined the staff at Tiffany Heights Nursing Home, in Mound City, Missouri. Mary retired from Tiffany Heights Nursing Home after 50 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Emerson Andler; a son, William E. Andler; parents, Blair and Estie Mae Thomas; and a sister, Mildred Thomas Rebel.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Lois Jean Duck (Donald) of Phoenix, Arizona; five sons, Jay E. Andler Jr. (Karen) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Thomas D. Andler (Linda) of Satellite Beach, Florida; Robert L. Andler (Barbara) of St. Joseph, Missouri.; Gary L. Andler of Mound City, Missouri and Ronald L. Andler (Judy) Tucson, Arizona; a sister Lois Woods of Mound City, Missouri.; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services & Interment: 1:00 P.M. Friday, Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City, Missouri. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, Pettijohn & Crawford Funeral Home. Online guest book and obituary at www.pettijohncrawford.com.
