She was born February 2, 1914 to Jacob and Fannie Adler in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Thelma married Harry C. Carmen on December 25, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1968.
She was a member of Temple B'nai Sholem and American Contract Bridge League. She had been a substitute teacher for the St. Joseph School District and helped with numerous volunteer organizations throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Farnol X. Adler, Calvin Adler, and Lee Adler.
Survivors: son, Michael Carmen (Barbara), St. Louis, Missouri; daughter, Carol Searcy, Overland Park, Kansas; five grandchildren, Amy Hall (Chad), Olathe, Kansas, Erin Clift (Jeff), Manhattan, New York, Craig Carmen (Jessica), Ellicott City, Maryland, Laura Terry (Jason), Glendale, Missouri, and Juliane Henne (Peter), Overland Park, Kansas; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 10:00 A.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Shaare Sholem Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to Macular Degeneration Research, St. Joseph Food Pantry, or B'nai Sholem.
