Mary was born on November 23, 1923, in Neely, Nebraska, to Austin and Edith (Linerman) McDonell.
Mary was united in marriage to James H. Miller in August 1939. She was a homemaker and loved her family dearly. Mary put everyone's needs before her own.
She had a great love for animals which she instilled in all her children.
Mary took great pleasure in watching birds feed outside her window. Red birds were her favorite. Cats were her real passion with Siamese being her true love.
Mary was a Christian and loved attending Church when she was able. Her faith was important to her and she taught all her children to pray.
Her grandchildren will always remember her for being the fun grandma, she always had time for them. Mary was loved by all her family, but especially her granddaughter Brandi Shaw who was her angel on earth. Anything her grandma needed, she was there.
She was mother, grandma, sister and friend to many. She was the meaning of love and will be greatly missed.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James Miller, on May 23, 1989; her parents; brothers, Jack and Loran McDonell and Holland Dean; three sisters, Marjorie Crouch, Rena McDonell and Violet Henry.
Survivors include daughters, Jan (Kirby) Wagner, Arlington, TX, Debbie (Harry) De
Spain and Tammy (Steve) Berry all of St. Joseph; sons, James (Connie) Miller, Easton, and Dick Miller, St. Joseph; brother, Bud McDonell; St. Joseph; 16 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will begin 12:00 noon Wednesday at the Chapel, where the family will receive friends and relatives 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening.
