Richard Eugene Gibson Sr., 72, of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at his residence.
Richard was born November 23, 1940 in St. Joseph where he grew up in the surrounding area, spending almost twenty years in California before moving back to St. Joseph. He owned and operated several floor covering businesses between here and California. His hobbies included fishing, karaoke, and spending time with family.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Virgil and Mamie (McKim) Gibson; one infant brother and brother, Robert Gibson Sr.; sisters, Norma Yonning and Virginia Stevenson.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Deanna Gibson; sons, Jeff (Cindy), Leo, George (Denise) and Richard Jr. Gibson; daughters, Peggy (Stan) Storm, Gayle Brown, Shelly Gibson and Diana (Bob) Leigh; brother, Ron Gibson Sr.; sister, Jane Dilley; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gibson has been cremated under direction of Clark-Sampson Funeral Home.
Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday at Central Assembly of God with Pastor Bill Kropp officiating. A potluck dinner will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Richard Gibson Sr. Memorial Fund, c/o Deanna Gibson.
