He was born on March 28, 1922 to Timothy and Linnie Alkire in Barbard, Missouri.
Timothy married Velda Deane (King) Alkire on February 18, 1965. She survives of the home.
He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II, where he was wounded in Germany and awarded the Purple Heart and a Bronze star. He was a Prisoner of War for ninety days and participated in the European Theater. Mr. Alkire was self- employed and worked in construction for sixty years. He owned Alkire Roofing and Siding, received a Realtor License in 1973, and owned Alkire Realty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Virgil and Arnold Alkire; and two sisters, Bessie Neil and Goldia Lance.
Survivors: wife; two sons, Tim L. Alkire (Alice), Union City, California, and Shannon Alkire, Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters, Tisha Scobee (Keith), Kearney, Missouri, and Cinda Barquist, Gladstone, Missouri; stepson, Kenneth Sipes (Jeannie), St. Joseph, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Melanie, Rachel, Megan, Carie, Tracie, Kelly, Lindsey, and Kristen; one step grandson, Randy; five great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry Alkire; one sister, Doris Roach; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 1:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, where friends may call after 5:00 P.M. Thursday. The family suggests memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society.
