(CLAY COUNTY, Mo.) An investigation is underway after three bodies were found at a rural home in northwest Missouri Monday.

The Clay County Sheriff's Department said a family friend led them to the home in the 19000 block of Neth Road after she noticed what appeared to be a body and blood inside.

When authorities arrived, they found a woman and a 14-year-old boy shot to death in their beds.

Police believe the man killed his wife and the teen before turning the gun on himself.

According to KMBC, family members told police he might have been battling depression.

Police believe the shootings happened last week.
