(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) A former Army soldier continues to serve his country years after ending his official service.

Daniel Madinger spent eight years with the United States Army.

He has been deployed to South Korea, Kuwait, and Iraq.

But even after his service was over, he continues his service in other ways.

He is a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Patriot Guard.

Being part of the military is a family tradition for Madinger, a part of his life that he is not afraid to say he misses.

"It was an adrenaline rush," said Daniel Madinger. "I never played sports. I never had that mode growing up in high school so when I joined the military it was my chance to do something that not many people could say they've done."
