Mary Ellen Murray, 93 of Columbia, formerly of Gallatin, passed away Monday, December 3, 2012 at the Boone County Hospital. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 15, with visitation one hour prior to service, at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Private inurnment. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Seventh Day Adventist Food Pantry, 1207 S. Clay, Gallatin, MO 64640.
Mary Ellen was born in Tarkio, MO, on March 2, 1919, to Charles and Ina (Jones) Lucas. She graduated from Tarkio High School in 1937. She met her future husband, Marion Murray, in Tarkio while he was working in the Civilian Conservation Corps. They were married in 1936 and were married for 70 years when Marion passed away in 2006.
Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons: Brent & Terry Murray, and two sisters.
Mary Ellen is survived by her daughters: Dixie Chapman of Columbia, MO, Pat Pierce of Fountain Hills, AZ, daughter-in-law: Jan Helton of Columbia, MO, sister: Betty Lou Lucas of Aurora, CO, sister-in-law: Norma Hale of Kansas City, 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends.
