U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said that the 2012 total was one-third more than the district collected in 2011.
Out of the overall total, $2.1 million was collected in criminal actions and $13.7 from civil actions.
Nationwide, more than $13 billion was collected, matching the totals from 2010 and 2011 combined.
All the money collected is placed either in funds that are returned to victims of crimes or returned to the federal treasury, depending on the crime.
