She was born November 8, 1916 at the home of her parents, Benjamin & Mathilda Wege Tessendorf, in Onaga, Kansas. She attended Grade School in Onaga.
Lucille was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Onaga and the Ladies Guild at the church.
She worked as a waitress at Carl's Steakhouse in Onaga for many years, then as a cook at the Onaga Grade School.
She married Howard L. Manthe on January 4, 1941. He died January 30, 2006.
Lucille was also preceded by two brothers, Clarence Tessendorf and Dale Tessendorf, three sisters, Velma Toothaker, Leona Nolte, and Alice Nelson, and a granddaughter, Marcia Williams.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Hayes and her husband Tom, Shell Knob, MO; three grandchildren, Kevin McAlexander and his wife Becky, Ozawkie, Scott McAlexander and his wife Cherrie, Kansas City,MO, and Samantha Hayes, Kansas City; six great grandchildren, Brooke Beichley, Olathe, Matthew Beichley, Gardner, KS, Kaydance and Hannah McAlexander, Kansas City, Mo, Amber Hayes, Shell Knob, MO, and Nevaeh Rodriquez, Cassville,MO, and one great-great grandchild, Alanie Beichley, Olathe.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8th at the First Congregational UCC in Onaga. Burial will follow in the Onaga Cemetery. Family and friends will meet from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Lucille will lie in state on Friday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga.
