Northwest Women Handle Lindenwood in MIAA Opener

(MARYVILLE, Mo.) The Bearcats gave Lindenwood a rude welcome to the MIAA, defeating the Lions 69-40 Wednesday night to start conference play. 

Northwest (6-2, 1-0) trailed early in the game, but managed to etch out a 26-24 lead at halftime. They would not fall behind for the remainder of the game. 

Annie Mathews finished the game with 13 points and nine rebounds. Ashley Thayer and Tember Schechinger were the other Bearcats to hit double-digit points, pouring in 12 and 10, respectively.

The women are back at it Saturday in Maryville, taking on Nebraska-Kearney.
