Velma Lucille Jennings 88, of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 in Saint Joseph, MO. She was born May 23, 1924 in Hamilton, MO, daughter of Lydia and John Floyd. She married Gene Jennings on October 13, 1973. She worked at Missouri Methodist Medical Center as a dietician and she also worked at Mattingly brothers and the Rocket Truck Stop. She enjoyed cooking, canning, crocheting, puzzle books and most especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Carnegie Baptist Church. Velma was preceded in death by her parents, thirteen brothers & sisters and a step son, Charles Atkison. Survivors include her husband Gene Jennings of the home, a son, David "Skeeter" Atkison and wife Jackie of Stanberry, MO, two step sons, Jackie Atkison of Shell Knob, MO and Jerry Atkison of McFall, MO, five granddaughters, Jean (Corky) Slagle, Dawn (Shannon) Montgomery, Teresa Atkison and companion Tim, Kayla Crandall and Mindy Rice, three grandsons, Jeremy (Jackie) Atkison, Kevin Lee Rice and James Allen Rice and eleven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Rupp Funeral Home, with Rev. Albert Shirley and Pastor Jacob McMillian officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
