(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Those looking to spread holiday cheer through a good cause can sign up to be Salvation Army bell ringers.

The 2012 Red Kettle Campaign in St. Joseph began November 16 and continues through December 24.

Volunteers will ring bells at more than eight locations throughout the community.

"Salvation Army bell ringers are a cherished symbol of Christmas, the season of giving," said Captain Chuck Cook.

"Volunteers are critical to the overall success of our Red Kettle Campaign. We encourage individuals, families and groups to sign up for a shift - it's a fun, easy way to help those less fortunate in our community."

To volunteer, call LeeAnn at 816-232-5824, extension 22.

Donations can also be made by credit card by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY. Checks can be mailed to The Salvation Army at P.O. Box 1417, St. Joseph, Mo., 64502.
