Virginia Bridgeman, 93, Gallatin, MO

Virginia Bridgeman, 93, Gallatin, MO formerly of Hamilton passed away Saturday November 24, 2012 at Hill Crest Manor in Hamilton. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday November 28th at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening where friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial will be held at Cope Cemetery near Winston. Memorial contributions may be made to Three Rivers Hospice or Hillcrest Manor % McWilliams Funeral Home.
Virginia was born March 11, 1919 to Charley and Ella (Wood) Thatcher near McFall MO. She attended Rattlesnake school in rural Gentry County. Virginia was united in marriage to Ray Bridgeman July 24, 1933 in Bethany, MO; he preceded her in death July 24, 1986. The couple made their home on a farm north of Altamont. Virginia became a licensed C.N.A. and began her nursing career at the Sunset Nursing Home in Maysville, where she dedicated 25 years of caring for the residents every need. She later worked at the Cameron Hospital and retired from the Daviess County Care Center. Virginia took great pride in being a caregiver and during those years she touched many lives with her compassion and dedication. Virginia married Warren Bridgeman October 25, 1989 in Hamilton, MO where they made their home; he preceded her in death in 2009. After retiring, Virginia continued to serve the community. She was the "go to girl" at the Senior Housing in Hamilton and was always available to transport friends and neighbors to Walmart and other destinations. She loved to take care of people and devoted her life to serving others.
Virginia was a woman of strong Christian faith and attended the Assembly of God Church in Cameron and the Fairview Community Church near Winston. She was a good cook, and homemade Angel Food Cake was always a family favorite. In the early years she would put out a large garden and enjoyed sharing the fruits and vegetables she had raised with her family and the community Virginia never had children but her nieces and nephews were the pride and joy of her life. She welcomed all of them with open arms and loved each one as if they were her own. Virginia was a person of faith and lived her life serving others. She will be greatly missed.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ray Bridgeman of 52 years; husband Warren Bridgeman of 18 years; brothers Cleo and Marvin Thatcher and sisters Helen wood and Ada Cane.
Virginia is survived by her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and numerous other extended family members.
