Verna Jean McHugh, 83, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed from this life on Thursday, November 22, 2012 in her home.
She was born to the late James Henry and Lena (Harden) Heckman on October 28, 1929 in Oregon, MO. Verna married Frank McHugh in 1966 in St. Joseph, Missouri.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bowling, and Chiefs football. Verna loved spending time with her family and especially her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by his parents, her husband, four brothers; Lyman Heckman, Charles Heckman, Elton Heckman and Bob Heckman; three sisters, Esther Johnson, Alberta Beeler, and Iola Pierpoint. Survivors; one son, Charlie (Vicky) McHugh, Omaha, Nebraska; three daughters, Patricia (Larry) Stauffer, Savannah, Missouri, Leslie (Tim) Lotspeich, St. Joseph, and Linda (Rich) Frazier, Cameron, Missouri; six grandchildren, Katie, Jaxson, Joseph, Erinn, Erik, and Samantha; four sisters, Eva Pryor, Dorothy Hagee, Norma (Raymond) Barton all of St. Joseph, Missouri, and Marilynne Grider, Savannah, Missouri.
Celebration of life: 10:00 AM Monday, November 26, 2012, at Breit Hawkins & Gladden Funeral Home in Savannah, Missouri. Interment will be in the Fillmore Cemetery. Public visitation and family receiving hours: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday November 25, 2012 at the funeral home.
