Maryville Facility on Chopping Block in Energizer Cost-Cutting Plan

(ST. LOUIS, Mo.) A restructuring plan announced today by Energizer Holdings, Inc. is impacting workers in northwest Missouri.
The company plans to cut costs by about $200 million with the restructuring, which means some plants will close across the country. One of those plants is located in Maryville.
According to a release from Energizer, the closure of the Maryville manufacturing facility is part of the effort to "rationalize and streamline operations."
The multi-year plan is expected to reduce the global workforce by more than 10 percent or approximately 1,500 employees by 2014.
An Energizer spokesman said the move will impact several hundred workers in Maryville.

"There are approximately 310 Energizer colleagues at that plant who will be impacted and receive severance," said Ken Fields.
The plant is scheduled to cease operations by December of 2013.
Fields said the timing of the phase out and layoffs has not been determined.
He said the company is focused on addressing questions from employees at this time. Calls to plant managers in Maryville have not been returned at this time.
