Daniel A. Mitchell, Jr., 63, St. Joseph, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 at his home.
Daniel was born on March 23, 1949 in Merced, California to Daniel and Ester (Schnelle) Mitchell, Sr.
He served in the United States Army in Vietnam, and later worked for Armour & Company, St. Luke's Hotpital, and Western Regional Diagnostic Correctional Center.
He was a past commander for the VFW Post # 6760.
Daniel was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Rainer Schnelle.
Surviving family includes father, Daniel Mitchell, Sr., of St. Joseph; daughters, Danielle Stewart (Bryan), Troy, KS; Angela Mitchell, St. Joseph; Grandson, Zayden Wegenka, St. Joseph; sister, Carol Ann Hindera (Gary), King City, MO; uncle, Ted Mitchell, Carmichael, CA; niece, Chastity Chambers (Larry), nephew, Michael Townsend; Great-nephews, Sebastian Townsend and Kaliff Kirkendoll, all of St. Joseph.
Services 1:00 PM Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 1:00 PM Wednesday, at our chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday Evening.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the VFW Post # 6760.
