Bessie "Evelynn" Collins, 88, Liberty, MO

Evelynn was born to Raymond and Bessie (Slinger) Doll on August 30, 1924 in Hannibal, MO.
She married Earl Eugene Collins on May 2, 1941. They were married 67 years before his death in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Pauline Merfeld.
Evelynn was raised in the Maysville and Kidder, MO areas. She was a Methodist. During World War II, she worked at the Lake City Arsenal Plant. Upon Earl's return from the war, they settled in Gallatin and then moved to Cameron, Missouri where they raised their daughters, Sharon and Sheila. Evelynn was an LPN at the Cameron Community Hospital and later an accountant/secretary for both Shell Pitts Chevrolet and Suburban Propane. Their daughters and family were of utmost importance to her as she took great pride in the families' accomplishments. That pride continued as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were born.
Survivors include daughters, Sharon (Lou) Parra, Holt, MO, and Sheila (Ron) Parsley, Kansas City, MO; grandson, Ronnie Joe (Bianca) Parsley, Kansas City; granddaughter, Shannon (Jeffrey) Hylton, Liberty, MO; great-grandchildren, Dallas and Jaxen Hylton and Jac and Malaina Parsley; step-grandchildren, Brian (Leesa) McBroom, Leonard Parra, Louie (Debbie) Parra, Patty Parra, Gil (Jennie) Parra and John Parra; 16 step-great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, cousin and friends.
Services: 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron, MO. Visitation: 1-2:00 PM, prior to the service. Burial: Kidder Cemetery, Kidder, MO. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Online condolences: www.polandthompson.com.
