(ATCHISON, Kan.) A memorial Mass will be held Friday evening for a former Benedictine College coach.

The college will honor former alum and head football coach George F. Tardiff, who passed away Sept. 21, in New Jersey, after a short illness. He was 75 years old.

KQTV's reporting partner KAIR says Tardiff played for St. Benedict's College before he went to try out for the Buffalo Bills in 1960. He later returned to the school as head football coach and a physical education instructor.

Coach Tardiff led the Ravens on several wins and was inducted in the school's Athletic Hall of Fame back in 2003.

The Mass will be held Friday at 4 p.m. in the Abbey Church.
