Larry O. Ireland, 91, Topeka, KS

He was born May 20, 1921 the son of Lawrence O. and Nancy Brown Ireland in Topeka. He attended schools in Circleville and Holton, graduating from Holton High School.
He worked for Seymour Egg Company and drove an egg truck from Eskridge/Harveyville to Topeka. Later he was owner of a 1950's appliance store in Holton. Upon selling the business, he moved his family to Topeka in 1959 and became broker/owner of Town & Country Realtors, and served as president of the Topeka Board of Realtors in 1971. He was president of SMC sales and marketing in 1976. In 1980 he moved to Kansas City to work with Business Brokers Unlimited, then moved back to Topeka in 1997 to run his own brokerage office, until he retired.
Larry married Viola Mae Ruth in 1941. They were divorced. He married Wilma "Dolly" Johnson on November 11, 1976. She died November 30, 2009.
Survivors include one daughter, Janet Beffort, Topeka, three sons; Gerald Ireland and his wife Ellen, of Lenexa, James Ireland and his wife Linda, of Topeka, and Dan Ireland, of Scottsdale, AZ; one step-son, Kyron Johnson and his wife Susan, of Derby; three step-daughters, Vikki Skinner and her husband Richard, of Chicago, IL, Franci Nicks and her husband Rob, of Maize, and Phyl LaRae Johnson, of Lawrence, 26 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 1st at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Larry will lie in state after 10:00 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Cat Association of Topeka, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
