Kenneth was born September 24, 1920 in Guilford, Missouri to Alma and Tony J. Meinecke Nelson, Sr.
He attended Whiteford Elementary and the Guilford High School (Class of 1935), and recieved a BS in Agriculture from the University of Missouri in 1940.
As a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army serving as a paratrooper during WW II, he saw combat in Rhineland, Rome-Arno, Sicily, Central Europe, and Naples -Foggia. Kenneth recieved a silver star, and a purple heart in February 27, 1945, Croix De Guerre, and 6 Bronze Stars for campaigns served in.
Kenneth married Lorna Jean Landers, January 27, 1946, in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Kenneth was baptised into the RLDS Church at Age 8, and was a member of the Community of Christ Church, Guilford, where he was an ordained minister.
He was preceded in death by three sisters: Lucy Marie Land, Bertha Miller Smith and Fiona Charlotte Greene.
Survivors include: his wife Lorna Nelson, of the home, Guilford; two sons, Chris (Kim) Nelson, Heyworth, Illinois, Gilbert (Polly) Nelson, Guilford; daughters, Bonnie Nelson, Maryville, MO, Betty J. Peck, Guilford; brothers Junior Nelson, Guilford, Norman (Kathy) Nelson, Lamoni, Iowa; sister
Winnie Negaard, Guilford; grandchildren Josh (Colleen) Nelson, Hannah Nelson, Tabitha Nelson, Caden and Alex Peck.
Mr. Nelson's body has been cremated. Visitation will be from 2-3 PM, Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the Guilford Community of Christ Church followed by a memorial service at 3 PM.
Inurnment will be in the Graves Cemetery, Guilford.
