Eva M. (Maynard) Mackie, 93, St. Joseph, MO

She was born December 24, 1918 in Lexington, Missouri to William and Carrie (Jones) Maynard. In 1934 she married Ermel E. Reeves and to this union they had four children. They divorced in 1954. Eva then married Lauren R. Mackie on December 17, 1954, and he preceded her in death on October 26, 2011, they were married for 57 years.
She worked at several different jobs in her 93 years. Lake City Arsenal, Pratt and Whitney, Battenfield and different garment factories, along with other jobs she had. Eva and Lauren had a farm in Holt, Missouri before moving to a farm outside of New Hampton, Missouri. That is where she and Lauren got into doing flea markets then they moved to Country Club Village and continued with flea markets for a while. She loved her flowers and flower gardens. But what Eva loved most was her grandchildren, they were everything to her.
Eva was also preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers; John and Lewis in infancy and Arthur Maynard; son, Ermel Reeves, Jr., grandson Scott Casdorph and great grandson Rodney Mautino; sister-in-law Martha Maynard, and son-in-law Ronald Cooper.
Survivors include daughters, Arrah Cooper, Kansas City, Kansas, Clara (Leonard) Henderson, Rea, Missouri; son, Dr. William (Sharon) Reeves, Kearny, Missouri. Three grandaughters, three grandsons, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and one nephew Arthur Maynard Jr. Of New Mexico. Eva is also survived by her beloved dog Sparky.
Celebration of Life: 10:00 AM Monday, September 17, 2012 at Breit-Hawkins and Gladden Funeral Home, Savannah, Missouri. Interment in Lexington Memory Gardens, Lexington, Missouri. Public visitation and family receiving hours 2 to 4 PM Sunday. Memorials are suggested to The American Alzheimer's Association.
