Marion Redmond Davis, 84, St. Joseph, MO

Mrs. Davis was born in Richmond, Virginia, the daughter of Mr. James J. and Marion (Powers) Redmond. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School, Emmitsburg, Maryland, attended University of Richmond and graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Nursing Education. Later, she graduated from the University of Kansas Medical Center with a Masters in Nursing.
Marion married Dexter D. Davis on April 5, 1950. Marion raised five children through college: Deborah Ann Davis, Ronald Redmond Davis, Daire Dawkins, Danielle Davis and Darcie DeVore. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992 and daughter, Deborah, in 1978.
She was a member of Cathedral Church, PEO Chapter EE, Kappa Delta Sorority, Ladies of Charity, St. Joseph Country Club, and served as Vice President in Stocks R Us Wells Fargo (Financial Club). She was an Emeritus member of the Junior League of St. Joseph, and a member of the Lovers Lane Chapter of the ABWA and the American Nurses Association.
Marion taught Nursing at Methodist Medical Center School of Nursing from 1974 to 1987 where she specialized in Medical/Surgical Nursing and Leadership. When the School of Nursing closed, she continued at Heartland Health Center where she retired from Pre-Admission Testing in 2004. She was a fun-loving person with a great sense of humor who had lots of laughs with her family and many good friends.
Survivors: one son, Ronald Redmond Davis and his wife, Becky, of Camarillo, California; four grandchildren, Robert, Allison, Drew and Maddie; Daire Dawkins, and her husband, Jim, of St. Joseph, Missouri; two grandchildren, Austin and Megan; Danielle Davis and her husband, Michael Harman, of Scottsdale, Arizona; two grandchildren, Mariana and Mia; Darcie DeVore of St. Joseph, Missouri; two grandchildren, Dalton and Derek; and a sister, Ms. Joan R. Etz of Savannah, Georgia.
