(CAMERON, Mo.) A scare for a Cameron parent after police say a stranger tried to lure a girl into a car.

Police are investigating the attempted child abduction at Recreation Park.

Witnesses say the suspect used a boy to lure a girl into his car between 8-8:30 Thursday evening.

A parent at the park was able to retrieve the girl before she was abducted.

Police describe the suspect as a white man that appeared to be in his late 50's with a heavy build of approximately 300 pounds, and had short grayish-white hair. He was seen wearing a bright red or orange shirt and blue jeans.

Police say the boy used in the attempt referred to the man as grandpa.

Witnesses believe the boy is between 4-5 years old with blonde hair, and was last seen wearing a hunter green t-shirt and green or camo shorts.

The suspect was driving a silver four-door car, possibly a Buick LeSabre, and was last seen leaving the park driving north on Park Avenue in Cameron.

If you have any information, call the Cameron Police Department at 816-632-6521, or 632-TIPS.
