A visitation will be held 10:00-11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at Vaughn Funeral Home in Weston. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Weston. The family suggests contributions be given to Northcare Hospice.
Calvin was born February 22, 1921 in East Union, Kentucky, to Joe and Elizabeth Katherine (Chandler) Toy. He lived most of his life, and attended school, in Weston. Calvin was a member of the Christian Assembly Church of Weston, where he served on the church board and treasury. He served as an adult Sunday school teacher for over twenty years; as well as serving on the City of Weston Planning Board. Calvin worked most of his life in construction, building homes and painting. He married Cora Lee (Perkins) on April 15, 1947 in Weston. Calvin loved to travel, a trait he inherited from his early childhood. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially trout fishing.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers, Faris and Sherman Toy. He is survived by: his wife Cora, of the home; his son Gary of Platte City, MO; his brother Paul Toy (Alberta), of Weston; his sisters Hazel Russell of Phoenix, AZ, and Janette Emerson, of Columbia, MO; 2 grandchildren Rick and Leticia; and 3 great grandchildren Payton, Paxton, and Schafer.
