Kendrick Shawn Burgess passed away Wednesday night at his home in Kansas City, Missouri. He was 35.
Kendrick was born on October 8, 1976. He was born and raised in St. Joseph, Missouri and graduated from Central High School in 1995 and attended Missouri Western State University. After high school, he went to work for the family business, Midwest Scrap Management, Inc., with locations in St. Joseph, Missouri; Kansas City, Missouri; and Wichita, Kansas. He worked his way up to become President of the company and oversaw significant growth and expansion of the company over the last 10 years.
Kendrick was a fun-loving practical joker, who enjoyed traveling with his family and friends. He loved scuba diving, bulldogs, music, and food -- whether it be steaks at Capital Grille or strawberry milkshakes at McDonald's.
Kendrick moved to the Kansas City area in 2007, and he recently built a beautiful home on the Country Club Plaza, where he enjoyed entertaining guests.
He leaves behind his grandfather, Gerald Plummer; his parents, Kenny and Sherrie Burgess; his sister, Chasitie Walden (Michael); his brother, Jerrit Burgess; his bulldog, Lola; aunts; uncles; cousins; a niece, a nephew, and many friends. He was a generous, kind-hearted man who wanted nothing more than for those around him to be happy. While Kendrick left this world far too soon, he will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved him.
Mr. Burgess was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edith "Irene" Plummer, Kenneth A. Burgess, Sr., and Alice M. Burgess.
Services 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family suggests memorial gifts to M'Shoogy's Emergency Animal Rescue.
