Missouri Western State University is teaming up with the city of St. Joseph to teach players all about the sport.
Curling involves players sliding a heavy stone across the ice toward a target, while two sweepers guide the stone.
Organizers of the club hope people will take interest in learning how to curl.
"People in the United States have started to get more excited about it, not really knowing what it is, but just kind of watching it and trying to figure it out. It's a very strategic game, it's kind of loud and boisterous. People seem to have a lot of fun with it," said Britton Johnson, assistant professor of physical education.
There are several time slots open for the "Learn to Curl" events at Bode Ice Arena, 7:30, 8, 8:30pm on Friday, August 10, and 3, 3:30 and 4pm on Saturday, August 11.
Call Bode to sign up (816) 271-5506.
