Dorothy was born on April 6, 1921 in Lansing, Kansas. She was raised by her mother and step-father, Verna Mae (Meredith) and John O. Thompson at Clay Center, Kansas.
She was a graduate of Clay Center High School.
Dorothy sang at the local radio stations around the Salina, Kansas area before her marriage.
On November 23, 1941, Dorothy married Douglas M. Crowley. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1994. They lived in Polo and Lawson, Missouri during their married life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Thompson.
Dorothy was an avid animal lover. She was a housewife and had written Polo news for the Hamilton and Richmond newspapers.
Survivors: daughter, Linda (Everett) Wyckoff, Cameron; 2 grandsons, Dr. Douglas (Melinda) Wyckoff, Cameron, Keith (Jennifer) Wyckoff, Cowgill, MO; 4 great-grandsons, Daniel Schmitz, Tryston, Nicholaus and Nathan Wyckoff.
Graveside Services: 11:30AM, Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Lawson Cemetery, Lawson, MO. Visitation: 10-11:00AM, prior to the service at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation to Safehaven Animal Shelter and/or First Christian Church, Cameron.
