(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) An iconic St. Joseph restaurant is expanding its reach to the Kansas City area.

Barbosa's Mexican restaurant is adding a location at 12th and Oak in downtown Kansas City.

Chelsea Taylor will manage the store, carrying on the Barbosa family tradition. She plans to have a similar menu at the new location.

Taylor recently graduated with a business degree from Missouri Western State University. She is the granddaughter of Julia Barbosa.

The Kansas City location - Barbosa's Express - will serve lunch Monday through Friday.

The new restaurant is scheduled to open by Mid-June or early July.

Barbosa's has been in St. Joseph since the 1960's. The restaurant has a location at 9th and Sylvanie and one on Frederick Ave.
