Chiefs "Emphatic" about Return to St. Joseph

St. Joseph, MO--The Kansas City Chiefs Training Camp was on the agenda at the monthly Missouri Western State University Board of Governors Meeting. A recent conversation between MWSU Athletic Director Dave Williams and Chiefs President Mark Donovan gave the university the green light to prepare for Chiefs Camp, despite an NFL work stoppage.
"The Chiefs say they are emphatic about a return to St. Joseph," Dan Nicoson, Missouri Western V.P. Advancement, said. "The coaching staff really like the facilities and said they really liked the team chemistry built here."
The NFL Lockout has everyone in limbo-from Chiefs player salaries-to the place they train; but university staff is operating as if the Chiefs will make St. Joseph home, even if it's an abbreviated stay. The grass on the practice fields is being manicured and the bleachers are ready to move in. In addition, new parking policies and security measures are being hashed out before the start of camp.
"They definitely want to have their camp here. They liked the atmosphere here. We heard very promsing things, other than they couldn't promise the lockout would end."
As of Thursday, June 23rd, the NFL Lockout had reached 100 days. It's the longest work stoppage in league history. Until an agreement is reached between the NFL Owners and Players Union, there will be no organized football activities on NFL property.
