St. Joseph City Council members are getting closer to setting their goals for the next four years in ink. City Council members got an important history lesson Monday night; they learned that in order to move forward they have to know where they came from. In an effort to give Council Members a clear vision of what their roles are, Facilitator Al Purcell invited two members of the 1981 Charter Commission. These men were key leaders in helping to write the current City Charter. They gave a briefing of what they had in mind when writing the descriptions of each Council Member`s job. Council Members also made significant progress in highlighting some goals they wish to target. Among those adding more fire stations, revitalizing Downtown St. Joe and developing the Riverfront. Council Members are still in the process of filtering which goals they will tackle first. But, they say they`re happy with their progress so far. After Mondays meeting the Council says they are happy with the teamwork everyone has put in. During the next meeting they will talk about prioritizing their goals. Purcell says he expects the Council to have one more session before their meetings are complete.
