A Midland Empire man takes on a big name in the race for Missouri`s U.S. Senate. Scott Babbitt is up against long-time politician Jim Talent and three other unknowns for the Republican primary. The St. Joseph man who`s trying to get his name out there on a tight budget. Scott Babbitt said, "I feel sometimes like i`m up against a flood and storm of money, experience, and assistance." In the race for a U.S. Senate seat, candidate Scott Babbitt has a few road blocks ahead. Babbitt says a lack of campaign savvy and lack of campaign funds are his biggest obstacles. Babbitt said, "My qualifications aren`t in the area of holding elected office but working with groups like non-profit organizations." Babbitt admits his web site isn`t your typical campaign site but he says he`s not a typical politician. Babbitt said, "I`m afraid a lot of politicians let popularity get in the way of actually getting things done. I`m outspoken on my web site when it calls for it sometimes it`s not to my best advantage popularity wise." He says web sites aren`t the only difference between him and his competitor senator Jim Talent. Babbitt said, "He`s pro war and I`m not I`m anti-war it`s been my experience if there`s a solution you can find without violence you should pursue it." Babbitt`s worked on a plan for four years that he says will solve border patrol issues, economic issues, and bring troops home from Iraq. He recommends sending illegal immigrants to Iraq. Babbitt said, "Since they don`t want to be in the country where they were it gives us an option them an option that wasn`t available to them. We`re going to be in the reconstruction phase of Iraq. We`re talking construction jobs and at the end of any war where there`s been destruction a new economy develops. KQ2 asked how Babbitt thinks others will react to his ideas. He said, "Once I`m there they may see the advantage of what I`m doing and how it`s working it`s just a matter of taking that chance." Babbitt outlines his plan in detail on his web site at www.scottbabbitt4senate.info.
