Prepping The Polls

A campaigning spree means crunch time at the Buchanan County Clerk`s office.
With just one month before the August 8th primary, Pat Conway is rushing to register voters and make sure all ballots are in order.
Conway says, so far, things have gone smoothly, but there is still a lot to be done and little time to do it.
"We`re preparing the ballots. We`ve got our computers, we`re testing the machines. We`re getting our programs. We should have that back by the end of the week. Of course we`ve got all new elections machines. And plus, we`ll have the new machines that the disabled community can use to cast their votes at the polling places," said Conway.
The deadline for Buchanan County residents to register for the August primary is Wednesday, July 12 at 5 p.m.
Registration is done in the County Clerk`s office at the Buchanan County Courthouse in downtown St. Joseph.
