Herzog Hopes to Expand Rail Car Repair Business

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Herzog Corporation says its rail car repair business is booming and it needs room to expand. Monday night the company met with Buchanan County commissioners and area residents to explain plans to move Easton-Saxton Road at Riverside Terrace. Herzog employs 35 rail car repair workers and hopes to add more to the roster in the future. The company owns land to the north and south of its current location but says a creek to the north prevents expansion in that direction. Instead, Herzog plans to move Easton-Saxton Road about 2,500 feet south into vacant land owned by the company. The plan is to build a new road first so through traffic isn`t disrupted. Herzog says the move will not affect residents, but some community members are afraid growth will affect their property.
