Gazing Ball Thefts

By: Import User
Updated: January 7, 2009
Two unusual thefts to report from Chillicothe. Police say they have complaints of more than a dozen gazing balls being stolen from local yards. Gazing balls are the decorative garden ornaments that are coming back in fashion. They date back to the 13th century, where their shinny, reflective surface was believed to ward off evil, protect homeowners and bring prosperity and health to all who gazed upon them. So far, 13 are reported stolen.
