East Hills Parking Lot to Bloom into Business

A pile of dirt is dumped onto the East Hills Shopping Center parking lot.
Two buildings will bloom to house a Colorado company called Designed West.
A company spokesman says a sales center and a modular spec home will provide one-stop shopping for home and commercial development throughout Northwest Missouri.
Designed West representative Mike Macey says the company`s goal is to offer housing that starts around $85,000.
"Thirty-eight percent of the people in St. Joseph rent homes, and our purpose is to build homes that families can afford. We also own a mortgage bank, and we`re chartered just like a regular bank," Macey says.
Macey says designed west will construct stick-built and modular homes.
The St. Jospeh Area Chamber of Commerce will join Designed West at its official ground-breaking ceremony on Thursday at 4 p.m.
