Shooters Shut Down for Lack of Licenses

Updated: January 7, 2009
A St. Joseph bar and pool hall is forced to close it`s doors because it`s new owner doesn`t have proper licenses. Several pool players found the doors at Shooters Bar and Grill locked Thursday. Customers showed their frustration by posting a sign that says "Open Shooters." City Police Commander Jim Connors says the frustration wouldn`t exist if the new owner had a business and Missouri retail tax license. The St. Joseph Police Department and the Missouri Division of Liquor Patrol forced the bar to close down last night. Connors says business owners can avoid forced closings by filing the right paperwork. Connors said, "This is not unusual circumstance. Our officers work closely with state agencies and they work with us to check city licenses. Bars, taverns, and places were alcohol are served are checked very carefully." Commander Connors says Shooters can re-open it`s doors once the owner gets necessary licenses.
