On the campain trail....Congressman Sam Graves stops to speak with members of our local military. It was a standing room only crowd filled the auditorium at rosecrans memorial airport. Hot topics included concerns about homeland security and equal employment opportunities for soldiers. Another concern is military budget cuts and the pay gap between military and civilian salaries. Some estimates show forty-percent of troops earn less as a soldier than at their civilian job. Graves says that`s a problem that needs more attention. "One of the things I`m trying to do is a tax credit to those businesses to make up the difference between what the guard gets paid and what they were originally were getting paid in there regular job," Graves said. As for budget cuts, Graves says the last thing they want to do is short the military. As a thank you...the 139th presented graves with an american flag flown in afghanistan.
