(ATCHISON, Ks.) Appeal proceedings for a Kansas inmate, appealing a more than decade old murder conviction, wrapped up Wednesday morning.

Kirk Wilson and his new team of attorneys are asking for either a vacated conviction or a new trial.

Testimony concluded and brief closing arguments were made Wednesday morning in Atchison County District Court.

Judge Robert Bednar will examine evidence and testimony before making a ruling.

Bednar did not name a timetable for when the ruling will be made.

Wilson was convicted in 2001 and sentenced to life in prison, without parole for 25 years, for the March 2000 shooting of Kurt Boldridge. Boldrige was shot in the head as he slept in his rural Atchison home.

Wilson was one of four - including Boldridge's ex-wife - convicted in the murder conspiracy.

According to our reporting partner KAIR, Wilson's attorneys claim his attorney at the time did not present sufficient evidence in the case.

KAIR reports that Wilson tried once before to appeal his conviction, but he was unsuccessful.
