Highway Patrol Reports 2 Christmas Season Fatalities

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) The Missouri Highway Patrol reported two fatality accidents during the Christmas travel season.

During that time, the highway patrol investigated 239 crashes, which included two fatalities and 91 injuries.

Troopers also arrested 130 people for driving while intoxicated.

Statistics were counted from 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, to midnight December 25.

This year's fatality numbers were down from 2011, while all other numbers showed a significant increase.

In 2011, troopers investigated 213 crashes with 67 injuries and five fatalities. Last year troopers made 56 DWI arrests.

Both of this year's fatalities occurred in the Troop D, Springfield area.
