(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Brandon Frans knew he was heading into a war zone even before signing on the dotted line.

Now, three years into his military service, he is a proud soldier serving with the Missouri Army National Guard.

SPC Brandon Frans was shipped off to Afghanistan right after his enlistment. He quickly left behind his family, including his young daughter with another one on the way.

Frans follows in the footsteps of his family members who have served before him such as his veteran father David Frans.
