(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) One woman is dead from injuries she sustained after a three-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon.

LATEST UPDATE

St. Joseph Police Sergeant Richard Ketchem said a truck carrying four people was speeding up South 11th Street Rd. toward South 22nd St.

The truck then collided with a van, carrying a female driver. The truck struck an electrical pole and spun backwards into a neighboring fence.

The van was thrown off S. 22nd into N. Pass where it rear-ended a car. The driver of that car was not taken to the hospital.

Police say the Buchanan County Sheriff's Department listed the truck in the accident as stolen. According to Sgt. Ketchem, the driver of the truck was a juvenile. He was treated at Heartland with life-threatening injuries and is recovering.

The other occupants of the truck were two juveniles and a 17-year-old. All three are also recovering at the hospital from their injuries.

Police have not released the information of the woman who died from her injuries.

The St. Joseph Police Department and the Buchanan County Sheriff's Department are still investigating the crash and the stolen truck, respectively.

Sgt. Ketchem said once police have finished their report, they will forward the case onto the Buchanan County Prosecutor to see if charges will be filed against the juvenile driver.

The accident happened shortly before 4:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

Traffic was closed on S. 22nd between Excello Dr. and Center Dr. while police and the St. Joseph Fire Department investigated the crash.
