(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) Missouri is smack-dab in  the middle when it comes to best run states,  according to the Wall Street Journal. Missouri comes in 25th in the Journal's ratings.

The Journal rated the states in such categories as debt per capita, unemployment, median income and budget deficit.

Missouri comes in mostly right in the middle of the states in all those categories.

The Journal did call out the state for a reduction in the funding of higher education.

The best run state according to the ratings? North Dakota which used revenue from a recent crude oil boon in the state to put its fiscal house in order.
