The highway will be designated Interstate 49 on December 12.
The change in designation will affect several aspects of travel.
Rural interstate speed limits in Missouri are 70 mph, unless otherwise posted, and the minimum speed will be 40 mph.
Commercial traffic along the route will see changes to weight limits and load restrictions, as well as other commercial vehicle laws.
Questions regarding the commercial vehicle restrictions can be directed to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division at 573-526-6128.
