(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) It was a hot chicken sandwich in exchange for a warm winter coat.

Saturday, the United Way, KCP&L, and Chick-fil-A put on a coat drive to collect warm winter items.

When donors brought in an item, they were given a voucher for a free chicken sandwich.

Organizers are pleased with the amount of clothing they received.

"We've collected coats, and jackets, blankets, and mittens," says Dan Hegeman, of KCP&L.

"Right now it feels like we are really on pace compared to the last two years, we've collected about five hundred items each year and hoping to do the same," says Kylee Strough, of the United Way in St. Joseph.

If you have any items you'd like to donate, you can drop them off at the United Way in downtown St. Joseph.
