Police ID Cameron Fire Victim as Repair Shop Customer, Name Still Withheld

(CAMERON, Mo.) Mystery still surrounds the identity of the victim of a fatal fire in Cameron.
The Cameron Police Department is still struggling to confirm the victim's identity because of the extensive burns suffered in the fire.
It happened on Monday, Nov. 12, at a diesel repair shop on Pence Road in Cameron.
When first responders arrived, they found a machine shed fully engulfed in flames. They were told a customer was still inside. Because the fire was so intense, firefighters were unable to save the person inside.
The Cameron Police Department described the victim as a transient customer of A-1 Mobile Truck and Tractor Repair.
A preliminary autopsy on the body indicated no signs of foul play, but a final report could take weeks.
In the meantime, the Cameron Police Department has learned that some of the victim's family members live out of the country. Other family members provided the department with DNA samples to assist with the identification process.
Until the identity is confirmed, police do not plan to release the name of the victim.
