(SAINT JOSEPH, Mo.) The Griffons' second day of competition on their home field felt a lot chillier than their first pair of games, but that didn't cool off the bats.

Jackie Bishop and Janie Smith ran with solid run support in Missouri Western's 5-0 and 8-0 wins over Southwest Baptist on Saturday.

The Griffons (14-8, 2-2) quickly shook off a one-run performance from their Friday doubleheader with Central Missouri, tallying three runs in the first inning against the Panthers. Maegan Roemmich batted in a pair of those runs, while Michelle Stevenson added the third.

Breanna Fleschner tacked on a two-run single in the fifth to spread the margin to five.

Western started the scoring in the second frame in game two, highlighted by Keri Lorbert's two-run homer to right field, making it 3-0. The final five came in the very next inning as the Griffons needed only five frames to polish off the sweep.

Taylor Anding matched Lorbert with a pair of RBI, while Roemmich, Stevenson, and Sarah Elliot each knocked in one.

Western's next matchup comes in Maryville against Northwest on Tuesday. First pitches for the doubleheader are set for 2 and 4 p.m.
